Latest update from the Ramblers Association on Covid 19 – Nov 3rd 2020
| This guidance is regularly reviewed to reflect the latest advice across England, Scotland and Wales. It was last updated on 3 November 2020.
”We are sad to say in England Ramblers group walks are cancelled from Thursday 5 November until Wednesday 2 December, in accordance with the latest UK government guidelines”
Our priority is to protect the health of our members, supporters and volunteers.
The government guidance and laws relating to Coronavirus vary greatly for England, Scotland and Wales so please read the information below carefully dependant on your location.
However and wherever you choose to walk, please remember to:
- Be prepared: Government guidelines are changing regularly and vary locally so make sure you are aware of, and comply with, additional local restrictions that may affect your walk.
- Be safe: Maintain good hygiene and physical distancing. If you begin to show COVID-19 symptoms or have been in contact with anyone who has COVID-19, you must self-isolate.
- Be considerate: Be sensitive to rural communities if considering travelling further from home to walk. Make sure to follow the Countryside Code (England and Wales) or Scottish Access Code.
If you are a volunteer, please follow the latest Ramblers volunteer advice.
Information by nation
We are sad to say Ramblers group walks are cancelled from Thursday 5 November until Wednesday 2 December, in accordance with the latest UK government guidelines.
According to government guidance you may continue to walk outdoors for exercise with the people you live with, your support bubble, or one person from another household. Walkers in England should however be mindful of different restrictions in other nations and not travel to Scotland and Wales.
Other in-person Ramblers group activities such as training, social events and path maintenance working groups are also cancelled. Activities such as AGMs will be held online.

As the local representatives of the Ramblers Association (RA) in and around Eastbourne we are a friendly group of walkers organising walks mainly in Sussex but occasionally further afield. We were formed in 1984 and currently have around 250 members. New members are always welcome whether they are new to walking or more experienced.
Our Walks Programme page links to details of the walks we offer (when they become fully available again) together with some notes on suitable clothing, fitness etc.
If you are not already a member of the RA we recommend that you take part in two or three trial walks with us after which we would expect you to join.
If you would like more information, please use the ‘Contact Us’ page or e-mail us . We would be delighted to hear from you.
